Love is a theory and a practice working together to deepen our experience.
Love is not an end destination. We don’t simply come to love and remain at that point. Love is a timeless journey with limitless opportunities to expand our wisdom. For the entirety of our human experience, we continue to strengthen our foundation; we continue to build our temple. We are here to experience it all and all leads to love.
Reminder: I can only love others as deeply as I am able to love myself.
We can tell others how we would like to be loved, but if our own actions towards ourselves do not reflect this, it creates a “do as I say, not as I do” conflict that sets the stage for disappointment and hurt feels.
Who better to love us more wholly than ourselves? Who else has absolute, unfiltered and complete access to our needs and desires? Who else is better equipped to love the parts we learned to deny in order to feel safe because we know exactly how those wounds formed, how they show up, and how they need to be healed? Until we meet ourselves where we are at and love ourselves as well as our shadow wildly as we are in that moment, we will continue to believe that love is something outside of ourselves. Know thyself and learn to love thyself—in light and in shadow, acceptance and surrender for all.
